Getting Ready for Christmas

Adam and I went shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Our neighbors watched Abby for us. On Saturday we put up our tree, we finished decorating it tonight. We also went and had family pictures done last night. We are excited to share this happy time of year with Abigail.

More holiday duds. I love having all of these hand me downs from different people.

Previously Abby did not like this toy. Yesterday she decided it was the greatest thing ever, for about 5 minutes.

We had a great Thanksgiving. Hope everyone else had one too. Here are some photos from our holiday.

Happy Weekends

Updates on Abigail:

Abigail loves to stand and jump, she's just not that into sitting still. She did sit unassisted this morning for a few seconds before she toppled over.

We've been introducing her to different foods. She eats oatmeal every morning and rice at night. She's had most of Gerber's level one foods including peas, green beans, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, pears, and peaches. She also had real bananas and applesauce as well as a bite of a real sweet potato. Today she had a taste of canned pumpkin (plain). She eats everything we give her.

For a long while she was a little cooer. She would just babble to herself constantly. Recently she has learned to really use that voice. She has started screeching and screaming just for fun. Only we don't find it as much fun as she does.

She was in a very good mood on Friday and Saturday. I commented to Adam's mom that she must have heard Santa Clause was coming soon. Today she was not so well behaved. She cried for about an hour this afternoon and was pretty much non-consollable. Not sure what was bothering her, but she was quite the grump.

Below are some new pictures.

Abigail slept in her playpen while my mom was in town visiting. She does not sleep well with other people in the room, so we put her downstairs.

It has taken some time, but she is slowly learning to love this new toy.

Adam and Abigail ready for our nightly walk. Adam should have worn a sweater. It was chilly outside, about 49F.

My grandma Louise crocheted the jacket, hat, and booties for Abigail. This is the first time she's worn them. They were great for keeping her warm.

A very tired baby. The grumpasaurus did not take very good naps today. Hope she sleeps well tonight.

Video of Abigail playing in her exersaucer this morning. She sounds like she is crying at first. But she is actually just having a blast, as you can tell by the big grin on her face.

Another Fall Update

Here are some miscellaneous photos taken over the last month or so.

This first one was taken this morning. I put the camera in the pack N play with her and snapped the shot. We liked the outcome.

Over the weekend of Halloween we took Abigail to some church parties. We also went for our routine walk on Halloween, and decided we would let her trick or treat a little. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Gabby Abby

Fall continued

This week Abigail began eating some baby foods. The doctor had us putting small amounts of rice cereal in her milk when she was 2 months old to help with an upset tummy, but now she's started spoon feeding. She started with oatmeal last weekend. This week she had peas for dinner 4 nights in a row with a little rice cereal. Tonight she had some mashed banana from the banana bread I was making. She liked the banana more than the peas (can you blame her), but she ate both just fine.

I wasn't sure at first if she was really ready to start eating solid foods. The doctor told us that 4 months was good, but I know that some people say to wait until 6 months. But one thing Adam and I read is that the baby may be ready when you notice her eyeing your food. She has recently taken a big interest in the food that Adam and I are eating. We gave her the peas and rice cereal while we were eating dinner so she would feel included.

Below are some pictures from this week.

Just playing.

A friend from work gave us this tub full of baby girl clothes (her daughter is 11 months older than Abigail). Abigail was very interested in what was in the tub at first.

Abigail enjoys playing with stuffed toys more than plastic ones. She picks them up, hugs them, chews on them, and intently stares at them.
