Disney Trip June, 2012

We took more than 350 pictures and a dozen + videos during our little vacation (and that's just on our camera). I narrowed down the shots and arranged them in chronological order to tell our story. Some of the videos are a little shaky because I converted them to a smaller format making it easier to upload, but diminishing the quality. I hope you enjoy our photos. (For a better view of the pictures, click on one and you can scroll through them all.)

SUNDAY

Traveling Day

We were ready for church, but Abigail was ready for Disneyland.

The hotel had a nice kid pool area with a 1 foot wading pool.

There was also a large water splash play area. Abigail enjoyed the water slides. She was able to go on the orange slides, as well as a longer curved slide. We were glad they let her on the bigger one since she really wanted to try it. The bucket at the top would also dump large amounts of water every 5 minutes or so. She never wanted to leave this play area and threw a bit of a fit when we went to leave both days that we played there.
Water + Slide = Extra Fun

Abigail was very tired, but did not want to go to sleep. She was too excited. She climbed out of the crib using the bed, so we had to move the crib to the corner. She finally did pass out in the crib.

Monday

Our First Day

We arrived at the park about 7:40 for the 8:00 opening. At ten minutes till they let everyone in the park for rope drop. We were at the front of our rope and had a great view of the castle. We headed first to Peter Pan and Dumbo. We were able to experience 6 rides in the first hour, then things got busy.

Dumbo, it's a flying elephant!

Abigail likes to climb on everything; Adam and I had to keep taking her off of the railings.

She drove us to hell and back. Seriously, this ride is a bit scary.

Outside of Pinochio's Daring Journey.

Inside the queue for Snow White's Scary Adventure its kind of dark and scary with skulls and witches, but Abigail likes it anyway.

We decided to head over to Tomorrowland to get some Fast Passes and then ride Nemo. While walking through Snow White's Grotto we came upon two princesses, Tiana and Mulan. It was a nice surprise, though Abigail doesn't really like the face characters at the moment because she isn't into strangers and they look like real people. It is kind of funny because many kids are scared of the big costumed characters, but she loves them.

Nemo? Where's Nemo?

GOOFY!

Abigail loves Gadget's Go Coaster (see video below). She was just barely tall enough at Spring Break, but now she is obviously over the limit. Her head is supposed to touch the bottom of the blue bar (without mouse ears), it's now nearly two inches over the 35" requirement.

Someone crashed Goofy's car into his mailbox. Was it Adam?

Abigail loved this slide and completely ignored the other strutures in Goofy's backyard. It wasn't even a slippery slide, she could only get about half way down and then would have to crawl off. What can I say, she LOVES slides.

We ran into Mickey and his marching band as we were heading across to California Adventure .

We went over to our special Chase meet and greet and saw Pluto. Abigail was getting grumpy at this time. We had lunch and then headed back to the hotel where we all had a nice nap. Later, we went to the splash area. We had dinner at IHOP before returning to the park around 6pm. Sadly, I forgot my camera when we returned in the evening.

Tuesday

  Abigail's Birthday

 Abigail turned two on June 12, 2012. We started the day with breakfast with Minnie and Friends in the park. It was a great experience. There was a lot of different food choices, some better than others. But the best part was the character interactions. They were awesome. We had reservations for 7:10 in the morning, so when we got there there were not very many people. The characters kept coming back to see us. We had them sign Abigail's birthday card. They all posed for pictures and gave hugs (except Captain Hook, he's not the hugging kind), and some played with Abigail. The only downside was that Pooh was not there. We know he often is, so I guess it was his day off 8{

Goofy's son, Max made fun of Goofy's signature on Abigail's card.

Captain Hook visited twice, and he was a fun one (see video).

This is Dale, but Chip visited too.

Pip the Penguin (so says the b-day card) is from Mary Poppins.

 The Fairy Godmother

We left breakfast just after 8 (regular opening hours) and headed to see Tinkerbell. We were surprised with a short line of less than 15 minutes. We met Iridesa and Tinkerbell. Abigail was a little more friendly with Tink than the other face characters, but she was still not about to stand alone for a picture.

Abigail loved a lot of the rides. She really enjoyed herself compared to last summer. But her absolute favorite ride is Gadget's Go Coaster. There was a short wait that morning, so we rode five times in a row. She would wait impatiently in line, ride the coaster, get off, and run back to the queue.

We saw Minnie again at her house.

Then we went to see Mickey. We were chosen also for some promotional pictures. They had taken some candid shots, we're assuming while meeting Mickey, and they wanted our permission to use them for promotional purposes. They gave us some free photo cards and said they would also mail us the pictures they took. Abigail did look awfully cute that day in the dress my friend, Amanda, made for her.
M-I-C...K-E-Y...M-O-U-S-E, Mickey Mouse!

Just being cute. I'm thinking she's starting to cut the 2-year molars. She's been putting her hands in her mouth, and that isn't really like her. I checked and her gums seem quite swollen in the back.

Woody!

A kiss for Daddy

The Carousel is still a favorite

We took Abigail to see the Disney Junior show. We're not really familiar with the TV show characters as we don't have Disney Channel, but we all still enjoyed the show. It turned out it was Minnie's birthday too.
Since it was her birthday, we needed to have a little treat. We all shared a banana split. Abigail thought it was wonderful.

We ended the night by watching Fantasmic and the fireworks. I wasn't sure Abigail would stay up to see the shows, but she did. She really enjoyed them.

Watching fireworks for the first time

She enjoyed her birthday, but was definitely ready for bed.

WEDNESDAY

Final Day

We took a ride on the double-decker bus to start out our last day.

Abigail and I rode in the Astro Oribtor, another of her favorites.

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!

She doesn't even know who he is, but he gets a hug anyway.

Finally we got to see Pooh!

Goodbye! We really enjoyed having our annual pass this year. We chose not to renew it, but we'll be back in a few years. This last day was pretty neat as they had finally taken the walls down around all of the Carsland and Buena Vista construction. We were able to see into the new areas. We already can't wait 'till our next trip when we'll get to experience those new areas. We got home around 2AM on Thursday, which happened to be our 4th anniversary.
